One nation under movies
According to a somewhat clever cat known only as “Subtonix” to Reddit users (one of which I am not), these are the films that best represent each of our 50 states.
To be sure, subjectivity played a pivotal role in the selection process, but overall I think Subtonix did a swell job. B+ for effort. Although I’ll wager dollars to doughnuts the Marlboro men of Wyoming ain’t terribly pleased getting stuck with Brokeback Mountain to epitomize the Cheney State. Of course, growing up in Georgia, I don’t have much to brag about, either (though I must admit, Deliverance is one pig-squealing, damn powerful moving picture).

Of all Subtonix’s choices, however, I would say the least thrilled with their cinematic ambassador were Ohioans—and for good reason. Harmony Korine’s Gummo, whilst one of the more bizarre feature films ever made, isn’t what one would call a flattering depiction of the Buckeye State.
